5. Neighboring

As we discovered in ‘Gospel Identity’, discovering our true identity empowers us to reveal God’s kingdom. In this session, we’re going to explore how this applies to where we live, work and socialize through neighboring.

What is neighboring?

 What do you see?

  1. Think about your neighborhood. What do you see? What is it like to live there? What drew you to your neighborhood? Is there a sense of community?
  2. Take a moment to write down the names of a few neighbors in your neighborhood or apartment complex. List two or three qualities about them. eg. Married? Kids? Jobs? Personalities?
  3. If you are new to your neighborhood or haven’t yet met anyone , write down a few things you have noticed about the people who live there. eg. Are they home often? Have you ever spoken? What were they like?

Application

  1. For the next month, build a rhythm of prayer walking your neighborhood once a week. This is tithing your time into your neighborhood for which God cares. Write down any opportunities you get to interact with your neighbors.
  2. If you have not begun a ‘Prayer Circle’ yet then try to begin developing one.
